The City has reached another milestone in completing work on the East side of the bridge, and is getting ready to move the work area from the East to the West side of the bridge.
On July 18 at 7:00 p.m., the Mission Bridge will close to all motor vehicle traffic for the weekend so that the team can move the work area. The bridge will reopen to cars at 5:00 a.m. on the morning of July 21. Pedestrians and cyclists will be able to cross the bridge during the full closure.
After the weekend closure, the ongoing off-peak single lane closures along eastbound Elbow Drive S.W. will continue. The City asks that pedestrians and cyclists use the north side of Elbow Drive between 4th and 5th Streets S.W., and the south side of 26nd Avenue between 2nd and 3rd Streets S.W. (please refer to map below).
With the bridge reopening on July 21, the access stairway to Elbow Island Parks from Mission Bridge will be closed until further notice.
The project remains on track for substantial completion of the bridge by the end of 2025.
